ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for preparing .omega.-pen?anorprostaglandins having at the 15-position a hydrogen or lower alkyl group and one sub- stituent of the formula: Ar-(CH2)n- wherein Ar is .alpha.- or .beta.-furyl; .alpha.- or .beta.-thienyl; .alpha.- or .beta.- naphthyl; phenyl; 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl; 3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl; 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl; or mono-substituted phenyl wherein said substituent is halo, trifluoromethyl, phenyl, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; and n is an integer from 0 to 5 with the proviso that when Ar is phenyl, substituted phenyl or naphthyl n is 0 or 1, and various intermediates employed in their preparation is described. The novel prostaglandins of the invention have been found to have activity profiles comparable to the parent prostaglandins but exhibit a greater tissue specificity of action.
