ABSTRACT A tone signal detector for use in paging receivers and the like is disclosed. In known tone signal detectors a waveforms converting circuit converts incoming tone signals to pulses which are applied as gating pulses to a gate circuit to permit clock pulses to be counted which gives a count which can be equated to the tone. However, a threshold in the waveform converting circuit is liable to vary, resulting in variations in the duty factor of the gating pulses and so the detector is subject to failure with respect to some tone signals. The tone signal detector of this invention is not adversely effected by threshold variation in the waveform converting circuit.
