"Collection of tars" IN THE CANADIAN PATENT OFFICE Patent Application entitled "Method of collection of a condensable or divided viscous product, carried by a gaseous current". (Invention of Fernand-Arthur GEIRNAERT) in the name of AIR INDUSTRIE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the collection of a conden- sable or divided viscous product carried by a current of gas, in which filter walls are initially coated with an adsorbent porous and finely divided materiel by causing another auxiliary gas stream carrying this material to deposit it on the filter walls, and then passing the current of gas containing the viscous pro- duct through the filter walls so that the viscous product is captured by the coating of adsorbent material and thus prevented from clogging the filter walls. The filter walls are deformed or shaken subsequently to detach the coating which has adsorbed the viscous product. The process is especially useful in cleaning the gas evolved in baking electrodes for aluminium electrolysis cells, since the adsorbent porous and finely divided material can be coke, so that the detached coating can be re-cycled.
