ABSTRACT In the production of 3,3-dimethyl-2-alkoxyoxiran, 1-alkoxy-2-methyl- propene is oxidized in the liquid phase at a temperature of from 25 to 70°C, using molecular oxygen, if necessary in the presence of a catalyst. The molecular oxygen used is in the form of pure molecular oxygen or molecular oxygen diluted with an inert substance, for example air. Sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and/or barium hydroxide can be used as catalyst.
