ABSTRACT Phenoxy- and thiophenoxynitriles having the gene- ral formula : Image (I) in which : - A can be selected from the group constituted by -O-, -S-, Image , Image , - R1 represents a hydrogen atom or halogen atom or an alkyl or halo-alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, - R2, R3, R4 and R5 which may be identical or dif- ferent from one another, can be selected from the group com- prising hydrogen and alkyl radicals having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, - Y can have the same meanings as R1, - Z can be a sulfur atom, - n and n1, independently of one another, are in- tegers from 0to 3. These compounds are notably efficient herbicides.
