POWER UP RESET CIRCUIT FOR A DIGITAL SYSTEM Abstract of the Disclosure A power up reset circuit, for use with a digital system having a power supply with a long power up interval, includes a voltage reference circuit, a voltage detector and a pulse generator. The voltage reference circuit provides a reference voltage at either the instantaneous power supply voltage or a predetermined voltage, whichever is less. The voltage detector generates a power ON signal a period of time after the power supply voltage exceeds the predetermined voltage. The pulse generator asserts a reset signal which continues from a time before the power ON signal is asserted and for a substantially predetermined interval of time thereafter. The power up reset circuit is particularly useful in cases where an unrestrained power up switching load in the associated digital system would otherwise prolong an already long power up interval characteristic of the power supply. - i -
