SURFACTANT IODINE COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PREPARING SAME ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved surfactant-iodine composition is made by first dissolving an inorganic iodide in the surfac- tant and then dissolving iodine in the thus formed surfac- tatn-iodide composition. The novel compositions are iodine complexes of nonionic or cationic surfactants in the presence of ioide, have a weight ratio of iodide to iodine of at least about 0.05 and have preferably between about 1 and about 50 weight percent available iodine. These compositions have a wide variety of well known uses as germicidal and santizing cleaning compositions.
