A PROCESS FOR SELECTIVE RECOVERY OF RELATIVELY METALS FREE BITUMEN FROM TAR SAND USING A HALOGENATED ALIPHATIC SOLVENT Abstract of the Disclosure A process for the selective recovery of tar sand bitumen from tar sands using a halogenated aliphatic solvent. The process provides for an inexpensive method for selectively removing substantially metal-free tar sand bitumen from tar sands. The bitumen so recovered, renders the same amenable to catalytic desulfurization and upgrading processes.
