METHOD FOR MAKING POLYETHERIMIDE Abstract of the Disclosure A method is provided for making polyetherimide for certain bis (nitrophthalimide) and alkali diphenoxides. Higher polyetherimide intrinsic viscosity is achieved if the alkali diphenoxide is employed as a performed substan- tially anhydrous reaction product of a diphenoxide and a sodium alkoxide in a C (1-3) alkanol.
