ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes a limited stroke DC linear motor which comprises a stationary wound member, a field member movably relative to the wound member and support means for maintaining air gaps between the wound and field members. The stationary wound member has a plurality of windings wound on a slotted magnetic structure, the windings being simultaneously energized with direct current. The field member comprises a permanent magnet for interacting with the energized windings, the direction of the limited stroke being determined by the direction of the direct current.
