ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flotation cell has at least one froth removal edge and a rotor and stator adapted to be immersed in the liquid to be flotated. The clear- ance between the rotor and the stator, as seen in the rotating direction of the rotor, widens in that rotational sector or those rotational sectors of the rotor which is or which are substantially towards the removal edge or edges. The clearance converges in the other rotational sector or the inter- mediate rotational sectors of the rotor. In one embodiment the rotor and stator have been fitted eccentrically in relation to each other. In another embodiment the stator is oval or elliptical. The rotor or stator can be centered in the flotation cell.
