PREPARATION OF LINIMENT FOR TREATMENT OF ARTHRITIS ABSTRACT A method is described for preparing a liquid compo- sition for use in the treatment of arthritis. The method includes the steps of: (a) placing bark from a tree of the species Larix laricina in water and heating for at least 140 hours duration at a temperature slightly below the boiling point of the liquid, and at least once during each 24 hour period raising the temperature of the liquid to the boiling point for up to 2 hours duration, (b) thereafter separating the liquid from the remaining pulp, (c) acidifying the separated liquid with a mineral acid and heating the acidified liquid to the boiling point, and (d) separating and collecting the liquid product obtained.
