- 1 - Abstract: The invention relates to an aerating device for sewage and comprises a drum-like rotor which rotates in a trough and is divided, by axially-parallel partitions, into a plurality of outwardly-open radial chambers, the said partitions being equipped with peripheral outer surfaces having apertures so that during rotation of the drum a volume of air is trapped in each chamber. Internal baffels in said chambers act to direct the trapped air initially to the lagging portion of the chamber and then, past bottom dead centre, to the leading portion of the chamber, thereby efficiently aerating the sewage.
