A B S T R A C T The invention relates to a connector suitable for terminating a plurality of electrical conductors, for example the conductors in a flat cabe. The connector comrises a pair of components, one of which comprises an insert for supporting an electrical connection between each connector and a respective contact member, the insert being non- circular in cross-section, and the other of which comprises a housing for the insert. One of the components has resilient retaining means projecting therefrom and the other has a shoulder for co-operating with the resilient retaining means to locate the insert in a desired position in the housing. A tool may be provided for removing the insert from the housing, the tool being such that it can be inserted in the housing and can cause the resilient retaining means to flex to a configuration wherein it does not prevent withdrawal of the insert from the housing. A pair of the connectors may be mated to provide an electrical connection between first and second groups of electrical conductors.
