ELECTRONIC GEAR CHECKER Abstract of the Disclosure A functional gear checking machine for determining a number of gear characteristics from a composite input signal received from a linear voltage differential transformer is disclosed. The signal from the sensing transformer is coupled to a demodulation circuit which, in turn, is coupled to several types of signal processing circuits, each of which contains a memory and each of which processes and separates the components of the composite signals in order to provide output signals that are indicative of the desired gear characteristics. The output signals that are developed are a function of the voltage between two reference levels, at least one of which is established by the associated signal processing circuit.
