ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Embodiments of fuel injection valves have a retainer connection between the stem of the valve closure and the com- pression spring urging the closure to its seated position which permits the stem to rock with respect to the end of the spring. The retainer connection is formed of one or more members of selectable thickness which facilitates the assembly of a plural- ity of valves having substantially identical fuel flow. The orifices through which the fuel flows from the valve closure to the combustion chamber of the engine have characteristics to improve fuel introduction and reduce the residual fuel when the valve closes. A fixture and method is disclosed for stan- dardizing the valves as they are manufactured.
