Abstract of the Disclosure A method of and a device for ultrasonic examination, in which use is made of a measuring head comprising a number of rows of transducers which are arranged one in the prolongation of the other. Each time one row of transducers is actuated such that it transmits an ultrasonic beam in a given direction, after which, proceding along the measuring head, each time groups of transducers which are connected as receivers are selected to receive echo signals, starting at the row which served as transmitter and proceeding along the measuring head in a direction which is dependent on the direction of the transmitted beam.
