ABSTRACT An electrical switch assembly, which may be utilized as an automobile seat switch, comprises a base of non-magnetic material, a resilient foam pad, a reed switch and at least one permanent magnet. The foam pad is attached to the base with the reed switch being located, preferably in a groove in the base, between the base and the pad. The permanent magnet is attached adjacent to the top surface of the pad and directly above the reed switch. The assembly is arranged so that when pressure is applied between the base and the top surface of the pad, the pad is deformed so as to move the permanent magnet towards the reed switch which results in activation of the reed switch.
