ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification discloses apparatus for observing the stereoscopic image of an object, which includes a device for measuring distances between points on the stereoscopic image. The stereoscopic image is produced by viewing the object from two different directions and arranging the two plane images thus produced so that one is seen by the right eye and the other by the left. The measuring device provides one movable mark on the left eye image and one movable mark on the right eye image so that the distance between any two points on the stereoscopic image can be calculated by measuring the distances between corresponding points on each of the two plane images by appropriately moving the marks between the points. In particular, however, the apparatus enables the marks on each image to be interlocked so that they are moved by the same distance in the same direction on each of the plane images. When desired, one of the marks can be held stationary while the other is moved independently. In this way the move- ment of the marks can be easily controlled and the control apparatus can be made quite simple as compared with previous apparatus.
