ABSTRACT A WOODSPLITTING APPARATUS In Figure 2 rotatable threaded cone 1 is secured at the front of a support mounting 20 having a bevelled end 3 which facilitates the passage of a block of wood split by the cone 1 such that large blocks may be split in one operation without the need to withdraw the block to reintroduce the cone 1 into the block at a different place. A platform 4 is pivoted by means of pivot bolt 5 at the end of a support arm 17 to which it is also connected by means of a ratchet assembly 7 and bolts 52 whereby undue pressure on the platform 4 during a block splitting operation will result in the downward pivoting of the platform 4 to thus relieve the pressure on the cone 1 and the drive thereto.
