ABSTRACT A security closure including a stopper and a capsule. The stopper has a body section for engagement in the opening of a neck of a bottle or the like having a head section which lies above the top of the neck. The head section is joined to one edge of a downwardly extending strip by way of a reduced thickness, the strip having a gap so that its ends are clearly separated, and one end forms a tongue which may be readily gripped. The capsule is formed of a malleable metal such as aluminum in the form of a cylindrical sleeve enclosing the stopper. The capsule has an opening through which the tongue extends and the capsule has two lines of weaknesses which are aligned with the longitudinal edges of the strip.
