The ABSTRACT A signal repeater is described for relaying information in a two-way communication system superimposed on a power distribution network. The repeater senses signals passing in either direction in the system, translates the received signal to a different band or group of frequencies, and transmits the frequency translated information. Provision is made for address-coding the repeaters so that, when connected in several levels, a particular path can be selected through the various levels. Provision is also made for a signal having priority in a system of such repeaters.
