ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides fastening means for a safety belt comprising a locking tongue adapted for being attached to one end of a safety belt, a locking case adapted for being attached to the other end of the safety belt, a locking flap displaceably supported by said case for selectively engaging said locking tongue to lock the same in said case and for releasing the locking tongue, a spring acting on said flap for urging the flap to a locking position in which the locking tongue is engaged by the flap means, and an expeller movably mounted in the case for expelling the tongue from the case with the tongue released from the flap. A push button acts on the flap for displacing the flap to a released position, in opposition to the spring, in which the flap is released from the tongue. the push button includes a cam having a cam surface on which the flap is engaged under the action of the spring means. The push button is displaceable to cause the flap to ride up on the cam surface and release the flap from engagement with the tongue. The cam surface has an upper profile which has a sloping concave curve in a direction away from the push button and a lower portion provided with a slot in which the flap means is engaged in the locking position. The cam also has a lower planar portion which slidably rides on the locking case. The expeller includes a projection for passing beneath the raised flap to support the flap while the tongue is being expelled by the expeller and to hold the flap in a raised position when the fastening means is not engaged. In this manners the risk of faulty operation is substantially reduced.
