ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel benzimidazole-2 derivatives of the formula Image (I) wherein R1 denotes alkyl containing 1 to 7 carbon atoms, R2 denotes hydrogen or alkyl containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R3 denotes hydrogen or alkyl containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R denotes carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, wherein alkoxy contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms, with the proviso that R1 differs from methyl or R3 differs from 6-methyl, when R is carboxyl or hydroxymethyl and R2 is hydrogen and pharmaceutically usable salts of compounds of the formula I with salt-forming properties are disclosed as medicaments. Pharmaceutical preparations containing these compounds and their use as anti-allergic agents are also disclosed. The novel compounds can be manufactured by methods known per se and suitable such methods are described.
