ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dispersant-antiwear lubricating oil additive is made by reacting a high molecular weight hydrocarbon-substituted phenol with aldehyde and ammonia or amines having a reactive hydrogen atom to form a Mannich condensation product which is reacted with an alkylene oxide and P2S5 to form the additive.
