ABSTRACT: An improved circuit for an electric discharge lamp, which circuit comprises an electric non-linear capacitor which - in series with a ballast coil comprising a core and with the lamp - is connected to the terminals of an AC voltage source. The use of the non-linear capacitor improves the crest factor of the lamp current so that the coil may be smaller and the lamp efficiency can be greater. Fig. 1. -15-
