ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Methods and apparatus for separation of mixtures of gaseous materials having different molecular weights, such as gaseous isotope mixtures, in which a moving surface is employed to apply an impulsive local centrifugal bending to the gas mixture laterally of the direction of motion of the surface and to produce a density gradient in the laterally accelerated gas, and in which the gas is separated in respect of the molecular weight gradient thereby produced. -1-
