ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and device to be used for testing for the presence of micro-organisms. A culture medium which will promote the growth of suspected micro-organisms is situated in the inter- ior of a body cavity and permitted to remain therein for a period of time sufficient to enable micro-organisms, if present, to grow at the culture medium. After elapse of this latter time, the culture medium is removed and examined so as to determine whether or not the micro-organisms are indeed present in the body cavity. The culture medium is carried by a structure such as a compressed body of filamentary material which is in turn supported by an outer frame formed with openings sufficient to provide free access of the micro-organisms, if any, to the culture means.
