ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A composition for releasing iron from serum for electro- chemical testing is disclosed. The composition comprises a substantially iron-free mixture of a lower aliphatic alcohol, and MCl between about 5 1/2 and about 8 1/2 For- mal. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the com- position also includes a minute quantity of silver ion.
