ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flame retardant polycarbonate composition comprising in admixture an aromatic carbonate polymer and an additive which may be the metal salts of either monomeric or polymeric aromatic sulfonesulfonic acids, or mixtures thereof. The compositions are additionally non- opaque when both the aromatic carbonate polymer and additive have a refractive index in the range of 1.54 to 1.65.
