ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of producing alkyl silanes by reacting hydrosilanes with olefines in the presence of a carrier material containing platinum or palladium as catalyst and which is located above the reactant mixture. The method of the invention is characterized in that the reactant mixture is kept boiling and its rising vapours are guided to a condenser while by-passing the catalyst, condensate flowing from the condenser and passing through the carrier material containing the catalyst is for example guided back into the boiling reactant mixture via a sluice. This method enables one to improve the space-time yield and at the same time to reduce the formation of by-products.
