Abstract of the Disclosure Polyphosphazene polymers are prepared which contain repeating units represented by the formula: Image wherein X and Y are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of: -O-, -S-, or -NH-; R1-6 are independently selected from a group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, cycloaliphatic compounds containing 3 to 10 carbon atoms, and substituted or unsubstituted aryl; a is 0 to 1, and 20? w?50,000 per polymer. The polymers of the invention can be utilized to form protective films and can also be utilized in applications such as for molding, coatings, foams and the like.
