ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the prilling of sulfur in a prilling tower by solidifying drops of molten sulfur emanating from a prilling device in a stream of rising cooling air; wherein the prilling device is vibrated at a low frequency in the range of 0.2 to 30 cycles per second and the prilling device and its content of molten sulfur are maintained at a temperature in the range of one to seven Celcius degrees above the melting temperature of sulfur, whereby hard, substantially spherical and closely sized sulfur prills are obtained and the amount of fines smaller than the desired size of sulfur prills and the emission of sulfur fines entrained with cooling air discharging from the top of the prilling tower are reduced.
