ABSTRACT Solid surfactant cake compositions are disclosed which incorporate certain solubility reducing materials. The surfactant is an anionic surfactant selected from the organic sulfates and sulfonates. The solubility reducing agent is preferably selected from the group consisting of: Image Image and wherein R' is methyl or ethyl and R is selected from: (1) [m.n.o]bicycloalkane derivatives having the following skeletal structure: Image wherein m is from 2 to 3, n is from 1 to 2 and o is from 1 to 2, and wherein a nonbridgehead site of said R moiety is attached to the balance of the molecule; (2) a derivative of [4.4.0] trans-decalin having the following skeletal structure: Image wherein a nonbridgehead site of said R moiety is attached to the balance of the molecule; (3) a derivative of cyclohexane having the following skeletal structure: Image wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each selected from an ethyl, methyl or propyl moiety, and wherein the balance of the molecule is attached to the 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 position of the cyclo- hexane ring of said R moiety; or (4) an n-nonyl moiety. -1- The solubility reducing agent may also be a compound having the following structure: Image The composition has utility as a solid surfactant cake which may be placed in a toilet tank dispenser to distribute a surfactant and other ingredients to a toilet bowl when the toilet is flushed. -2-
