ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tree felling device having a clamp for the tree trunk and a chain saw pivotably mounted relative to the clamp for sawing the trunk. In addition, a shearing blade is pivotably mounted to cut oppositely to the saw blade. With this arrangement, the chain saw is not required to cut completely through the trunk, since the final portion of the cut can be made by the shear blade, and the saw is thus protected from extreme forces which would otherwise act upon it in the final cutting stages.
