ABSTRACT New derivatives of furo[2,3-d]pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines, useful as antiinflammatory agents, central nervous system depressants, and to increase the intra-cellular concentration of adenosine-3',5'-cyclic monophosphate, have the general formula Image wherein R1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or phenyl-lower alkyl; R2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R3 is lower alkyl, phenyl, hydroxy or lower alkoxy; R4 is hydroxy, lower alkoxy or Image wherein R6 and R7 each is hydrogen, lower alkyl or phenyl-lower alkyl; and R5 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or phenyl.
