SPECTRAL ANALYSIS ELECTROMAGNETIC SURVEY SYSTEM Abstract of the Disclosure: A method and apparatus of detecting geophysical anomalies, particularly those in sulphide-carrying ore bodies are disclosed. The invention provides for the generation and transmission of one or more substantially pure sine wave signals from a transmitting coil at a frequency in the audio range, especially in the lower end of the audio range; and sampling the receiver coil for the presence of a secondary field -- i.e., a signal other than from the transmitter coil and at a harmonic frequency of the fundamental sine wave frequency of the transmitted signal. In general, the trans- mitter and receiver coils are minimum-coupled so as to preclude the likelihood of pick-up by the receiver coil of primary field; and also, in general, the fundamental frequency of the pure sine wave being transmitted from the transmitter coil is not sampled or is rejected by the sampling circuits. Because the fundamental frequency is not sampled or is ignored, and because the fundamental frequency is a substantially pure sine wave, there is substantially no noise problem in respect of detected secondary field signals indicative of a sulphide- carrying ore body.
