Abstract A synthesis of novel 5-alkyl-10-(aminocarbonyl/ aminomethyl/cyano)-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine-10- alkanamines is described. The procedure involves the addition of a dialkylaminoalkyl halide to a 5-alkyl-5H- dibenz[b,f]azepine-10-carbonitrile; the 10-cyano group may be optionally replaced by aminocarbonyl or aminomethyl. The resulting products are useful pharmacological agents possessing, for example, antiarrythmic and antimicrobial properties.
