ABSTRACT The permeability within a subterranean earth formation can be reduced by depositing wax within the formation near its exposed face. A self-breaking aqueous cationic emulsion of wax is injected into the formation while the emulsion composition is such that wax particles are carried into the pores of the formation and then deposited.
