ABSTRACT A railbound frog for trackwork installation has gage lines diverging from the narrow point-of-frog rearwardly to the frog heel. A heel extension integrally cast to the heel serves as a space for a pair of running rails to be aligned with the gage lines at the heel end. A pair of rail joints cast integral with the frog point extend rear- wardly of the heel on opposite sides of the heel extension and cooperate therewith to afford respective recessing for receiving the related end portions of the running rails. One of the rail joints is closer to the frog point than the other. The staggered rail joints strengthen the heel extension, allowing the heel end of the frog to support heavier loading for a longer time in comparison to standard frogs.
