ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The 2-deutero-3-fluoro-DL-alanine benzene sulfonate is resolved by continuous process involving direct preferential crystallization of the individua1 stereoisomers from a super- saturated solution of the DL-mixture. The resulting 2-deutero- 3-fluoro-D-alanine is a potent antibacterial agent.
