ABSTRACT Pyrogallol or a salt thereof is prepared by a process comprising deoximating cyclohexane-1,2,3-trione oxime or an oxime derivative thereof or a salt of either. Preferably the oxime itself is exployed, especially the 1,3-dioxime. The deoximation is preferably effected by hydrolysis.
