Abstract of the Disclosure. A stuffing box and associ- ated control system having the facilities for sensing a leak past the polished rod seals and for correcting the leak by adjustment of the seals, utilizes a pressurized piston system for tightening the seals around the polished rod and also features means for sig- nalling the well operator about the leak, for shutting down the pumping apparatus, and for achieving a final pack-off of the w?ll- head.
