ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE A tracer system is disclosed which is especially useful for following fluid flow in underground reser- voirs. Metal chelates, preferably derived from EDTA and containing a functional group which reacts with a flu- orogenic agent, are used as tracers. Liquid chroma- tography and fluorescense spectroscopy are used to detect the metal chelates.
