W 59 WV-4P RRW:ajh PNEUMATIC TOURNIQUET ABSTRACT A pneumatic tourniquet includes an inflatable cuff, pressurizing means for inflating the cuff, pressure re- lief means for deflating the cuff, pressure sensing means for sensing the pressure to which the cuff is in- flated and pressure regulator means for selectably acti- vating the pressurizing means and the pressure relief means to maintain the cuff pressure near a selected pressure. Visual and audible alarm signals are trig- gered if the cuff pressure exceeds a selected upper limit, if the cuff pressure falls below a selected lower limit, or if the cuff has remained pressurized for, or in excess of a selected time period. A computer may be used to sense the cuff pressure and inflate or deflate the cuff as required to maintain the cuff pressure within the upper and lower pressure limits.
