ABSTRACT A process is described for producing alkylated dihydroxy-diphenyls of formula Image in which R represents linear or branched alkyls of 1 to 4 C atoms. The pro cess comprises oxidising alkylphenols of formula Image in which R is as heretofore defined, with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a catalyst consisting of .pi.-ferropseudoaromatic compound such as ferro- cene or a derivative thereof, at a pH of 1 to 7.
