Abstract of the Disclosure A process for surface-sizing paper is provided. In this process the paper is impregnated with a sizing liquor and dried. The sizing liquor has a pH of 2 to 8 and contains 10-40% by weight of a salt of a reaction product which is prepared from (a) polyglycidyl ether of 2,2-bis-(4'-hydroxyphenyl)-propane (b) a monofatty amine (c) a polyalkyleneaminopolyamine of (c') a polymerised aliphatic unsaturated fatty acid and (c") a aliphatic polyalkylenepolyamine (d) optionally an epihalogenhydrin or a nitrile of an unsatu- rated monocarboxylic acid and (e) an acid in the presence of an inert organic solvent at temperatures of up to 95°C.
