ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Halftone, multi-color printed effects are achieved by special preparation of art work in the desired preselect Ed colors ? hout blending and the use of only white as a diluent of color strength of the pre-selected colors, forming color separated line engraved press plates thereform and applying the separate colors by offset printing on the workpiece using said press plates without overprinting or overlap of the respective colors in the composite image so formed on the surface of the workpiece. A novel method and apparatus for producing halftone effect printing and apparatus for producing halftone effect printing using said line engraved press plates is provided for printing cylindrical objects and, more particularly, cans of the two-piece type.
