ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Low color residue acrylate eaters are produced by reacting an organic polyol such as neopentyl glycol, pentaerythritol, or 3'-hydroxy- 2',2'-dimethylpropyl 3-hydroxy-2,2-dimethylpropio- nate with acrylic or methacrylic acid in contact with a lower alkoxy substituted phenolic or alkylated alkoxyphenolic polymerization inhibitor at a criti- cal low reaction temperature of from 20°C. to 80°C.
