ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A group of 1-phenyl-3-benzazepines with structures containing a halo-containing group at position 6 have enhanced peripheral and central dopaminergic activity. Particular species of this group include 6-chloro-7,8-dihydroxy-1-phenyl- 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine, 6-chloro-7,8-dihydroxy-1- p-hydroxyphenyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine and 6-chloro- 7,8-dihydroxy-3-methyl-1-phenyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3- benzazepine.
